A lockdown ride of 1000km helps stricken families

Matthys Beukes, took on the ride of his life when he challenged himself to cycle a whopping 1000km around his house during the Covid-19 countrywide lockdown. Although this was a personal challenge for himself, he wanted to make it worthwhile and do it for a worthy cause.

It took Matthys 5 days and 3 hours to complete the challenge. That’s 200km per day!

Matthys with the support of his team, PYGA Euro Steel managed to raise R150,000 (donations were facilitated through NIKA Capital) during the lockdown challenge. They raised the funds to assist the Humanitarian Empowerment Fund NPC with helping stricken families and individuals with food hampers during the lockdown.

From all of us at HEF and on behalf of many single mom’s, single grandmothers caring for grandchildren, widows and orphans – Thank you!

As you have so aptly stated, “When people stand together, nothing is impossible!
