Emergency aid: Food for KZN and Gauteng

The recent riot and looting crisis in KZN and some parts of Gauteng has caused a severe shortage of food especially for the poor and destitute families. They are already battling to put food on the table daily and now with very little food available find themselves in a dire situation. Available food is being sold at inflated prices which the poor simply cannot afford.

We are calling on all who have extra to give to those in desperate need. Let’s not allow anyone to go to bed hungry. At a time where we are fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, food plays a vital role in strengthening the body’s immune system. Let us take hands and support our fellow South Africans!

HEF is on the ground and has various operations in place to bring immediate aid relief to those most affected by this crisis. Here is how you can help:

HEF basic need family food hampers

Buy a family food hamper which will sustain a family of 4-6 for up to 4-weeks.

HEF have negotiated preferential prices on bulk food and have partners who are assisting with the same. A typical food hamper can contain maize meal, rice, spaghetti, flour, tinned foods, sugar, tea, coffee, milk and toiletries. We welcome drop offs of bulk food. Please contact us for arrangements.

The immediate need is to supply affected families with food hampers in KZN and Gauteng.

Centre of Hope Community Bakery

Giving daily bread to children and the community.

Buy loaves of bread. Our bakery in Newclare supplies fresh bread daily for breakfast and school lunch programs feeding children in the community. It currently also supplies bread to their various soup kitchens, and we also distribute to the less fortunate, especially single mothers, widows and the less fortunate.

We have pushed up the daily production to meet a growing demand.

Example donations:

about 10 loaves of bread

about 20 loaves of bread

2-week family food hamper

4-week family food hamper
