HEF Celebrates Women’s Day in Bapong Village

On Women’s Day, HEF had the privilege of spending a meaningful day with the incredible women of Bapong Village in the North West province. The day was filled with warmth, laughter, and the rich traditions of South Africa as we shared a delicious meal of pap, gravy, and meat. The women of Bapong were also treated to special gifts, a small token of our appreciation for their strength and resilience.

Joining us in this heartwarming experience were students from The King’s School West Rand. These remarkable scholars stepped out of their comfort zones to serve alongside HEF. For many, it was a day of firsts—preparing traditional meals, using a long-drop toilet, and embracing the everyday lives of the women in the village. Together, we sang traditional songs, shared stories, and the children delighted in eating with their hands, embracing the joy of the simple things in life.

It was a day that truly embodied love in action, as we all came together to bring joy and celebration to the women of Bapong. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Mr. Theron, the campus principal at The King’s School, Mr. Schoonwinkel, and the wonderful students for their love, dedication, and the joy they brought to this special day.
