New Horizons for Claremont Primary: A Computer Lab Opens Through HEF, Nedbank, and Dis-Chem Foundation Partnership

In honor of Mandela Month, the  HEF in partnership with Nedbank Group Technology, Microsoft and the Dis-Chem Foundation, brought a special day of learning and giving to Claremont Primary School.

A highlight of the day was the official opening of the school’s very first computer lab, made possible by a generous donation of computers from Nedbank Group Technology. This incredible gift will open up a world of digital literacy for the students. To ensure the new lab is used to its full potential, Microsoft has committed to providing essential computer training to both teachers and students.

The day was filled with activities designed to empower the learners. Nedbank representatives shared valuable tips on budgeting, a crucial life skill. Microsoft spoke to the students about the importance of online safety and the fascinating future of AI and using Minecraft as a AI learning tool.

The Dis-Chem Foundation also showed its support by donating goodie bags to all Grade 6 and 7 learners, bringing extra smiles to their faces. This collaborative effort demonstrates the power of community and corporate partnership in creating a brighter future for the next generation. We are incredibly proud of this initiative and can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on the students of Claremont Primary.

Nedbank Staff Revamp Tehillah Centre and Support Elsies River Community for Mandela Month

In celebration of Mandela Month, the HEF and Nedbank teamed up to make a meaningful difference in the Elsies River community. Nedbank staff dedicated their time and energy to a special project at the Tehillah Centre, an Early Childhood Development (ECD) center in the Cape Flats.

The volunteers spent the day revamping the center, bringing new life to the classrooms with fresh coats of paint. To further support the children’s education, they also provided each child with a stationery pack.

The initiative extended beyond the center’s walls. The HEF and Nedbank teams also reached out into the community, delivering much-needed food parcels to families in need and serving a warm meal to many residents. This collective effort embodies the spirit of Mandela Month, demonstrating how a small act of kindness can create a significant positive impact.
