Free WiFi in Zenzele

Free WiFi in Zenzele!

Yes, you read it right, free, fast and uncapped WiFi has been installed at our base in Zenzele. The school, the bakery and other facilities are now empowered with access to online solutions and resources. All made possible by our partner VTN Communications who have committed to a long partnership with HEF.

This is a first for Zenzele, who otherwise had to make do with 3G data which can become expensive. VTN supplied all the equipment and infrastructure to make this happen. They will also carry the cost of the uncapped WiFi.

Empowering people and communities.

In honour of Mandela Day, VTN spent the morning with the children who enjoyed their faces being painted and receiving goodie bags! Lots of fun had by all! Pictures on Facebook.

Later, on the same day, we were privileged to host a team from Nedbank Group Technology who got down and dirty to plant new home vegetable gardens in the heart of the Zenzele community. There enthusiasm was felt by all, especially by the homes they visited. The single mother’s, from these homes, who are all experiencing hardships, will reap the benefits from fresh vegetables in the coming months. Along with these new gardens, they and many from the community, received bags of maize and other goodies.

Truly a wonderful time spent in honour of Mandela Day. See Facebook post for pictures.

A note of thanks!

Thank you to VTN Communications as well as Nedbank Group Technology for taking the time to visit Zenzele. We love that you were on the ground with us to share and spend meaningful time with all involved. The people of the community thanks you for your generous contributions!
