The Humanitarian Empowerment Fund NPC (HEF) has responded to assist in helping those who do not have the means to help themselves during the country lock down.

Those that need immediate aid during this period are the poor, the widows with children, orphans and the aged who live in impoverished communities.

Devastating impact for the Poor!

People living in vulnerable communities in South Africa and other countries all around the world are suffering from the far reaching economic and social impacts of the measures needed to contain the pandemic.

Where families depended on some form of income, casual, low paid or unstable work, there is nothing or very little to fall back on during a lock down caused by the Covid19 Coronavirus outbreak.

For families in poverty, missing work directly relates to missing meals, making it hard to comply with government and health advice.

How have we responded?

Prior to lock down, HEF, through it’s partners and donations, collected over R200 000 for food and hygiene items which was delivered to our base in Zenzele. Taking hands with Rand West Municipality Health and Social Development Department.  (Watch video)

HEF has been working in these communities with upliftment projects for the past 10 years. We have team members ready to assist.

What are we doing during lock down?

The HEF Relief Response Team is on the ground in Zenzele, Bekersdal, Mohlakeng and surrounds distributing food, soaps and hand sanitisers to a targeted demographic, which is primarily the poorest of the poor, widows with children, orphans and the aged.  Those who simply do not have and are severely affected by the lock down protocol and they do not know where their next meal will come from.

We are also reaching out to partners and anyone for financial assistance which will afford us to purchase non-perishable food, soaps and hand sanitisers for distribution.

How can you help?

This pandemic crisis brings many challenges for people living in impoverished communities. The best way, given the country lock down, is to contribute financially. Finances will be used to purchase non-perishable food, soaps, hand sanitisers, hygienic wipes etc.

Other ways to make a difference is to stay at home and pray for the poor in these impoverished communities.
